Patriotic 4th of July knitting patterns
Here in the U.S., we’re counting down to Independence Day. It’s almost time for the picnics, barbecues, flags and fireworks — and those all-important red white and blue outfits and accessories. Here are some of our favorite 4th of July knitting patterns for this summer.
It may be summer, but sometimes it’s cool outside when the sun goes down. Rock the Go USA! hat by 3 Kittens Needle Arts, made with Universal Yarn Cotton Supreme in red, white, and sky surf, for a not-too-wintery piece.
If the hat isn’t quite enough, check out the matching Go USA! cowl by 3 Kittens Needle Arts. Use the same Universal Yarn Cotton Supreme in red, white, and sky surf to make the set, and you’ll be stylish and warm during the fireworks show.
Summerease by Taiga Hilliard Designs is a cute, lightweight top that will look great at your Independence Day celebrations. Use the simple pattern to show off a luxurious variegated yarn like Malabrigo Sock, or go for something solid (and machine washable) like Schachenmayr Glanzperle. If you make the top blue and alternate red and white in the striped bodice, you’ll get a cute flag effect that will make you the star of the cookout.
While this Summer Tank by Gudrun Johnston is adorable in any palette, it would be great for the Fourth if knit in red, white, and blue stripes. Try using Stylecraft Special DK in Lipstick, Royal, and White or Rico Essentials Cotton DK in Red, White, and Royal.
Summer Carnival by Georgie Hallam (tikki) is a great piece to have on hand as evening rolls in. Use Cascade 220 Superwash Sport in either Navy or Colonial Blue Heather for a garment that’s festive to throw on in time for fireworks.
