Free Easter Pattern – Rowan Love Heart Chicks
It’s getting closer to Easter and so we thought we’d share a free pattern that’s perfect for the holiday. These chicks by Rowan were originally designed for Valentine’s Day but our in-house knitter extraordinaire Natascha has recreated them as Spring Chickens – here’s a few words from Natascha about bringing the chick band together.
“I have to admit to not being much of a toy knitter so this was a new experience. The pattern is fairly straightforward: the fair isle is only over a few rows so even if you’re new to colour work it’s not too daunting. As the pattern is to knit the chicks flat, the purl side was a little fiddly. So I decided to knit the second one in the round. I drew out a little chart for the repeat, which enabled me to knit a lot quicker and chicks 2 and 3 were created in no time. It’s not much of a chart, I’m sure you could do better!
The crochet legs, comb, and beak and stitched eyes really bring the chicks to life; the slightly wonky sewing gives them a bit of personality. So here they are: Edward, Fender, and Marshall.”
Natascha used Rowan Cotton Glace, in Shoot (814) for Edward, Bleached (726) for Fender and Winsor (849) for Marshall with the accent colour of Poppy (741) for all three.
Rowan Cotton Glace yarn is available in 30 vibrant eye-popping shades!
We took the Spring Chickens out for a walk at lunchtime…
