Exclusive free knitting pattern: Debbie Bliss cable scarf
The very wonderful Debbie Bliss has knitted an exclusive free pattern – only available on loveknitting! Fittingly for Wool Week, it’s knitted in 100% pure Merino wool – probably the softest sheep wool in the world, and available at 10% off until the end of Wool Week (Sunday 20th October) with the discount code EWESAVE.
This is a perfect pattern for relatively new beginners, especially anyone wanting to give cable knitting a go. The three simple rope cables are separated by easy garter stitch to make them stand out; nothing to concentrate on except your beautiful cabling!
To download the pattern: click on the picture above and the pattern will open in a separate window. Be patient; it can take some time! If that doesn’t work, right-click instead and select ‘Save link as…’ This will save the pattern as a pdf on your computer, which you can then find and print. If you’ve clicked on the pattern and nothing seems to be happening, your computer may have saved it as a pdf; try looking in your ‘Downloads’ folder.
The wool yarn
The scarf is knitted in Debbie Bliss Rialto Aran, shown here in shade Sienna (042). The Rialto range of yarns are beautifully spun pure Merino wool, smooth and soft enough even for sensitive skins!* Rialto Aran is available in 20 lustrous shades – something for everyone.
*Sadly these wonderful yarns will still cause a reaction if you’re actually allergic to sheeps’ wool.
The little extras
The scarf is finished off with two 5cm (2″) pompoms. You can make a pompom with just two rings of cardboard – but it’s much easier with one of these cute pompom makers! There are several other sizes and shapes of pompom maker too.
