Free sock knitting pattern: Araucania Cesta de Flores

Knit up a basket of flowers for your feet

What could be better than a gorgeous hand-painted sock knitting yarn, inspired by the Lake Ranco in Chile and made of 75% sheepswool, combined with 25% nylon to give your socks strength and shape?

How about a beautiful flower-motif sock pattern to go with it? Aurelie Colas has written this charming pattern for Araucania Ranco sock yarn, using stitch textures to create a pretty little flower motif. Cesta de Flores translates to ‘basket of flowers’ and that is just what you will be knitting. With a mock argyle pattern lower down the socks and a choice of toe shapes, this design is intricate enough to keep even the most accomplished knitters entertained!

What a lovely pattern and scrumptious sock yarn. Such a shame the pattern download does not include the image of the sock. Perhaps it could be updated?

  6. Lyndy Urquhart says:

Brilliant ………….so good to find socks on 4 needles. Beautiful yarn too.

  7. Sally Juras says:

Shame all the yarn appears to be out of stock!?

  8. Susan Whelan says:

Why are you emailing customers with offers that are out of stock?

    • Carly says:

Hi Susan, unfortunately the yarn sold out in about 6 hours! We didn’t anticipate the offer to be so popular. If you email info@loveknitting.com they can let you know when it’s back in stock.

  9. Jesslin says:

A sock so popular, the yarn is already gone! 😀 Once the current pair is off the needles, I think this sock may well be the next, once I’ve charted it (I’m a firm believer in charts.) A little cutting and pasting will put the picture with the pattern in a word processor, or just save the picture separately with a similar name so you can find it, for those like me who really prefer to have a picture – it reminds me why I liked the pattern in the first place. Thanks so much for this lovely free-bee!

  10. Judy Couling says:

To get the image I saved the image with the same name as the socks with a 2. That way they are saved together and you can print a picture and have it along side the print out of the instructions. Hope this idea helps those who wanted the image too. x

  11. Marie Cassidy Walker says:

Really disappointed that all the yarn for Araucania Ranco socks has sold out even though I didn’t get your newsletter until 20th and looked on your site on 21st. It must have sold like clockwork! Please could you let me know when you have some more in stock.
    Regards
    Marie

    • Carly says:

Hi Marie, the promotion started on the 20th and the yarn sold out in about 6 hours! We didn’t anticipate the offer to be so popular. If you email info@loveknitting.com they can let you know when it’s back in stock.

  12. Carmen Smith says:

I agree with Muriel, the image of all patterns should be on pattern page.

    Thank you
