We’re so excited to finally reveal our brand new Knit-A-Long, the MillaMia festive KAL. We’ve teamed up with the scandinavian yarn house, MillaMia, to bring you tutorials to make 3 beautiful Christmas stocking patterns that are bound to become a family heirloom. Read on to see how you can join!

Who is MillaMia?

MillaMia has mastered the Scandinavian yarn tradition, creating 100% extra fine merino wool yarns in a range of weights and shades. The high twist guarantees and unparalleled stitch definition, and the contemporary shade palette means that you can create projects for every aspect of your life. These yarns are extremely versatile, and MillaMia Naturally Soft Merino is a sport weight yarn that’s perfect for this project.

What will we be making in the Knit-A-Long?

“Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care…”

Seeing the family stockings hung up for the first time of the season is almost more exciting than finding them filled with gifts on Christmas morning. Many families have heirloom stockings – does yours?

These MillaMia stocking designs are styled in the Nordic tradition, with three different designs to fit the different members of your family. With this Christmas MillaMia KAL, you could choose to make one stocking, all three, or multiple stockings of the same design. If you are a beginner knitter, you’ll find the striped stocking very accessible. For intermediate and advanced knitters, we have both the cabled and the Fair Isle star patterns and we’ll be asking you to pick a team for which you’d like to make most! (But don’t worry, you can make both too!)

For each stocking, we’ll be bringing you step-by-step video tutorials and tips so don’t worry, you’ll know exactly what to do every step of the way.

    Hey,

I was wondering if it was ok if you email me on how to make your own Christmas sock, cause I don’t like any other social communication apps what so ever.

  2. Tina says:

Very nice patterns! Unfortunately those of us that are not on Facebook or Instagram are going to miss out on all the fun.

Good luck to everybody that can join this KAL!

    • Angie says:

      Hi Tina,

No worries! The Facebook group is there for anyone who wants it, but all of the KAL will take place right here on the LoveKnitting blog. Happy knitting!

  3. SueAnderson says:

Looking forward to knitting these, although I wouldn’t usually use 4ply yarn – it grows too slowly for me!
Are there any other stocking patterns in a thicker yarn?

  4. Linda says:

I was so looking forward to the KAL but I think that £49.50 is too much for the yarn for 3 christmasj stockings, even with the 10% discount it comes to just under £45 which is still too much. Nevermind.

    • Jenny says:

surely we don’t have to buy the packs, most of my knitting is for charity, this time of year lots of Christmas Fetes and saw some of these last weekend, selling for 2 euro with a small choc bar & pencil in so £49.50 would be out of my range, intend using my stash with occasional purchase only.

  5. B from Canada says:

I was excited about this, until I read that it would take place on fazebook. 🙁

Oh, well. Maybe there will be other, more accessible knit-alongs some other time.

    • Angie says:

      Hi B from Canada,

No worries! The Facebook group is there for anyone who wants it, but all of the KAL will take place right here on the LoveKnitting blog. Happy knitting!

  6. S Stevens says:

Shame this is only being done on Facebook.

Perhaps it can be done via a PDF download another time?

    • Angie says:

      Hi S Stevens,

No worries! The Facebook group is there for anyone who wants it, but all of the KAL will take place right here on the LoveKnitting blog. Happy knitting!

  7. delilah says:

I will not join in anything on Facebook. When I stated this on your previous KAL you said not to worry as it would still be done via blog, but this never happened.

Not EVERYONE wants to join facebook, ya know.

    • Angie says:

      Hi Delilah,

No worries! The Facebook group is there for anyone who wants it, but all of the KAL will take place right here on the LoveKnitting blog. We’ll have tutorials, tips, and sharing, and we’ll be around to help people who post questions in the comments. Happy knitting!

      • delilah says:

Does that mean I have to join the KAL via Bloglovin? Is that why I missed the last one cos you did not put it on these email links I get?
I joined Bloglovin but then stopped it cos there were far too many useless advertising emails sent from other organisations that I had no interest in and were therefore wasting my time.
I wont do the KAL on Bloglovin either.

  8. Jeannie says:

I’m excited to join this Kal. I’ve been knitting for a few years, but only simple things. I’ve never tried socks. I really want to make a Christmas stocking! I’m sure I can make the first one. Thanks for such a fun Kal.

  9. Sarah says:

I am also sad that you can only do this via Facebook it really does exclude a lot of people.

    • Angie says:

      Hi Sarah,

No worries! The Facebook group is there for anyone who wants it, but all of the KAL will take place right here on the LoveKnitting blog. Happy knitting!

  10. Sandy Reeves says:

I am excited about joining this KAL. I will only be making two of the socks in traditional colors–the candy cane and the nordic star. Only ordered my yarn a few days ago so can’t start yet, but I am very excited.
