Welcome back, fellow knitters, and get ready for the launch of the MillaMia KAL! This week we’re making a start on the simple striped stocking, so get your needles and let’s get started.

For complete beginners, you can check out our “how to cast on” page for help. This stocking uses a normal, long tail cast on, for all you experienced knitters.

Using your 3 mm (US 2) needles, cast on 82 stitches. Continue knitting in garter stitch until cuff measures 7 cm (2 and 3/4 inches). Mark the end of each row with a colored thread.

Need some help joining a new ball of yarn? This video tutorial has you covered!

Begin with a knit row, and work in stocking stitch, working 2 rows in Scarlet (for the traditional colorway) or Forget Me Not (for the alternative colorway), and 4 rows in Snow. Work in this manner until the piece measures 7 cm (2 and 3/4 inches) from the colored threads on the cuff section. End with a wrong side row.

Switch to your 3.25 mm (US 3 needles), and continue in the established stripe pattern until piece measures 24 cm (9 and 1/2 inches) from the colored threads on the cuff. End with a Snow colored row, and continue the next section using only the Snow color.
