Spring/Summer ’15 Fashion Trends: Shades of the Seventies
Seventies style is stayin’ alive this spring/summer with gorgeous shades reminiscent of the era. Jenni has picked some of her fave patterns from some of our independent designers and brands that are perfect for the trend!
You could be forgiven for beleiving you’d woken up in another era during spring fashion week with many designers chanelling seventies style in their sping/summer ’15 ranges. From vibrant flower power to sleek suede, all elements were picked up and given a modern pang. I’m a big fan of the soft, caramel and chocolate shades and pop brights!
I love the style of this cardigan and think it would go great with some light blue flare jeans (boho hair not required) Carrie recommends knitting it in Debbie Bliss Donegal Luxury Tweed Aran, loving shade Camel!
2. Tang Top & Lelita Sweater by Sarah Hatton
These are bound to brighten up your days (especially those not so summery summer days!) Try knitting it in the bright shades of Schoeller und Stahl Record 210.
We couldn’t do a post about the seventies and not mention peace and love! Anna Ravenscoft’s sweater channels this perfectly with it’s olive branch heart motif. The recommended yarn is discontinued but you can replace it with Sublime Extra Fine Merino DK.
4. Rowan Magazine 57 by Rowan
5. Autumnal Cardigan by Knitbot (Hannah Fetig)
Okay, so it might be strange to add a cardigan with autumnal in the heading to a spring/summer round up but the colours of this are right on the seventies trend! Plus, we all know spring and summer days aren’t always the warmest… Knit it with Berroco Ultra Alpaca Light.
These triangles are so seventies! Why not try knitting it with Universal Yarn Deluxe Worsted?
