Valentine’s Day knitting patterns to channel your inner romantic

Valentine’s Day is coming, so why not show off your love of love with some Valentine’s Day knitting patterns? We’ve collected eight patterns that will let you wear your heart on your sleeve (or neck, or head, or chest, or back).

Hearts knitting patterns: Warm Hearts by Karen Walker, download on LoveKnittingClick photo to download pattern.

The Warm Hearts Neck Cozy by Karen Walker is a cute cowl pattern with hearts that will make a comfy accessory for V-Day and beyond. The details will let you practice your cable work, and it will look nice in a rich red or any other color.

Hearts knitting patterns: My First Party Dress by Mary Triplett, download on LoveKnittingClick photo to download pattern.

The My First Party Dress by Mary Triplett is an adorable little frock for your little love. Simple heart details and a picot edge look precious around the bottom, and the simple top-down design will make for a fun knit, perfect in any color. Try making this in a washable yarn, like Robin 4 Ply or Schachenmayr Catania Fine.

Hearts knitting patterns: Spread A Little Love by Cheryl Andrews, download on LoveKnittingClick photo to download pattern.

Spread a Little Love by Cheryl Andrews is an adorable way to make little heart decorations for any purpose. Make several in a variety of colors of Cascade 220 to create a display in time for Valentine’s Day. All proceeds from this pattern go to Heifer International, as well.

Hearts knitting patterns: Cabled Heart Hat by Red Heart, download on LoveKnittingClick photo to download pattern.

The Cabled Heart Hat from Red Heart is a cute accessory with heart details made from cables. Try making it in a warm wool like Cascade 220 Superwash or MillaMia Naturally Soft Aran.

If you’re looking for something a little subtler, the Hearts Headband by Jenise Hope is a great choice. It’s also a fantastic option for anyone who wants to try out cables or grafting for the first time, and looks lovely in soft pastels.

Hearts knitting patterns: Heart Sweater by Wendy Yarns, download on LoveKnitting

The Heart Sweater can be made either sleeveless or in 3/4 sleeves, and features subtle lace hearts on the back. It looks lovely as shown in Wendy Merino DK  in Cassis, but a neutral color would make for a great versitile piece as well.

Hearts knitting patterns: Knitted Heart Sweater by Twileys Yarns, download on LoveKnitting

This Knitted Heart Sweater uses bobbles to create a heart pattern on the chest. The alpaca blend of Twileys Mist DK will make a soft, warm garment, and the piece is basic with a pop of visual interest.

Hearts knitting patterns: All Wrapped Up in Love and Prayer by Mary Gildersleeve, download on LoveKnitting

All Wrapped Up in Love and Prayer by Mary Gildersleeve lets you wear hearts all over, but is still versatile enough to work any time. The lace pattern would look gorgeous coupled with softly vareigated yarn, like Malabrigo Rios or Louisa Harding Esquel.

I would love to try my hand at some Fair Isle knitting with these lovely hearts, but can’t find the link. It doesn’t seem to be on Ravelry either. Please help!
