Great yarns for homeware!

When you’re knitting for your home, you need to use yarn that will last, and last, and last! Merion finds you some yarn that will look great and wear well!

Filling your home with hand made knits is the perfect opportunity to choose yarn that is both hardwearing and beautiful! It might be very important to you that your home knits are washable, and this is particularly important for blankets and cushion covers, or nursery accessories. You may have sensitivities to wool or other animal fibres, and prefer acrylics, or you may only want to fill your house with natural fibres.

Bergere de France Recyclaine

Cascade 220

The felting technique is fabulous for homeware!  If you use an 100% wool yarn, you can felt any project to create a really sturdy fabric, which is great for baskets, pet beds, and even slippers! Most felting can be done in the washing machine on a medium hot wash – the agitation and temperature cause the fibres to felt, producing this gorgeous, strong fabric. Cascade 220 is a versatile, 100% wool yarn that you can use for felting as well as any home knit that calls for a worsted or aran weight yarn. It comes in 159 shades, so if you want to embark on a project that requires multiple shades, this is the yarn for you! These Knit Wool Felt Graduated Ombre Pods/Bowls from MidKnits make a fantastic gift – quick to knit and full instructions are in the pattern for how to felt them.
