Lovely Patterns for International Cat Day + A Heartwarming Video

Coinciding with International Cat Day, LoveKnitting is pleased to announce our partnership with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London! We’ve teamed up with some of the best knitting designers to bring you five amazing patterns. Three animal patterns are based on a real dog or cat that was once at Battersea, and has now been rehomed to a loving family. We also have a bright and colourful cushion cover, and and a cat-inspired blanket. The blankets are a natural match for LoveKnitting and Battersea, as every kitten and cat that leaves the cattery goes home with a donated blanket that was in their room with them. These hand-knit blankets offer a sense of familiarity in their new environment. The patterns are available here, and are can be purchased until the end of November. 100% of the pattern proceeds go directly to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home to help find homes for even more lovely little pets.

sushi cat knitting battersea

Sushi the Cat by Amanda Berry

Amanda Berry designed this cute little knitted cat Beautiful Sushi was born at Battersea with an underdeveloped brain (cerebellar hypoplasia) and it was touch-and-go whether she was well enough for rehoming. Thankfully she pulled through and proud foster carer, Senior Canine Behaviourist Nathalie (who hand reared Sushi and her sibling), was there to give her to her new mum Sarah. Sarah is well known to the Home and also has two cats – one of whom has special needs – and a docile border collie.

Ray Blanket by Vikki Bird

This blanket, designed by Vikki Bird, is based on a blind cat from Battersea named Ray who was adopted when he was only 12 months old. He had been dumped outside a vets in London and brought into the Home. He has developed into a beautiful boy and he likes to spend his days either roaming the garden, or lazily sleeping in one of his favourite spots in the house. He is an absolute joy and is loved to bits by his new owner.
