Elegant new Terrarium Collection 2016 by Purl Alpaca Designs
These beautiful pieces of designer knitwear from Purl Alpaca Designs are part of their stunning Terrarium Collection. Available as both as ready-to-wear finished garments, as well as patterns for knitters.
Purl Alpaca Designs’ in-house designer and creative director Kari-Helene Rane takes hand knitting with alpaca yarn in a new direction. Her 2016 Terrarium Collection marks a shift towards a cleaner and fresher fashion while details such as cables, considered shaping, and a beautiful fit keep the Purl Alpaca Designs aesthetic intact.
Kari-Helene was gracious enough to share some of her inspirations behind this collection with us:
“When I set out to design this collection, I wanted to create something different to what I had done previously. I was feeling like a fresh start and wanted this to be reflected in the new designs. I usually draw a lot of inspiration from vintage fashion and have previously done photo shoots that are vintage inspired. I felt this was a time to introduce a cleaner, more modern aesthetic to Purl Alpaca Designs. The Terrarium Collection represents a slightly more fashion-led direction for us whilst the individual pieces still hold the timeless quality we are known for.”
“The photo shoot was held in the beautiful location of Clapton Tram, a Victorian warehouse building in East London. The fabulous outside/inside look of the place created a fresh and interesting backdrop for our images whilst still drawing parallels to our usual outdoor shoots. My photographer, Tiffany Mumford, is always on hand with amazing input on composition and direction for the shoots and Tahira did a fantastic job with the model’s hair and make up. We wanted a fresh faced and natural look for the make up and felt that the use of the model’s natural curls was a contemporary touch.”
All of the gorgeous photos above were taken by Tiffany Mumford.
