The Spring Knitting & Stitching Show – London

The Spring Knitting and Stitching Show is now open 2nd – 5th March at Olympia, London! Csilla and Siân went along to check it out and give us their highlights.

Join the throngs of crafters and bag yourself some bargains this weekend. With almost 200 exhibitors this year, you’re bound to find some knitting supplies you never knew you needed, as well as those you do need!

Csilla and I visited the show on its opening morning – Thursday 2nd March, and we were so excited to see it filled to the rafters with exhibitors and craft supplies. The gallery spaces caught our eye, and the contemporary works on show were wonderful. We particularly liked Celia Pym’s darning work, she’s interested in mending as a connection to others and their objects.

If the galleries don’t get you inspired, then maybe the Creative Living Theatre will. There are free workshop demonstrations throughout each day by some tip-top designers. The Learning Curve Workshops are also a great place to pick up new skills or improve on something particular.

It was very hard to walk by each stand without stopping to ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ at all the yarns, fabrics and accessories, but we boldly continued on. Amongst the hundreds of stalls we found the lovely Sincerely Louise, who sells her adorable patterns on our website. She was getting herself ready for the busy weekend ahead  – doesn’t her stand look great?

After a few hours of exploration (and some shopping!) we stopped for a well earned tea break. There are plenty of places to take the weight off your feet and put down all that yarn you’ve acquired. The refreshment areas all have a range of hot and cold drinks, along with light snacks and sweet treats (Csilla’s tip – try the Rocky Road slices!).
