Wool Week: Rowan Big Wool Cowls Lookbook

Download your special edition Wool Week cowl pattern for FREE and see how the LoveKnitting team wore them in this exclusive lookbook!

It’s Wool Week! And what better way to celebrate than with Rowan’s infamous Big Wool? I love this yarn and have made some pretty lovely knits from it, like my Woolly Basket! I took to the streets of London with some of the LoveKnitting team to shoot how they would style the Wool Week edition Big Wool Cowls. There are three styles in this pattern download; Stocking Stitch Cowl, Garter Stitch Cowl and Cabled Cowl. Csilla, Pauline, Kate, Sepideh and I picked the colours and designs we loved most and styled them up. Let us know what you think in the comment box below!

“I just love winter accessories, they make it so easy to dress up any top you have! And this cowl is no different – the blue is flattering with almost all skin tones and goes well with other winter staples – like my hat. The style of this Stocking Stitch cowl allows you to drape it around your neck once for a cool effortless look or wrap it around a few times to keep snuggly and warm!”

“I love nothing more than wrapping up in a giant snood when I’m out and about in the colder months. During the winter I am known for wearing darker colours, but I’ll always add something bright to make me stand out and the Pantomime shade really does in this super cosy snood.”

“I usually wear neutral coloured clothes, monotone with a bit of cream and grey, and use accessories to complement and style up my look. I really love darker, jewel tones so this deep, plummy purple colour caught my eye. It’s perfect for ‘day to night’ dressing! The wool is super soft and keeps me cosy against those winter chills as well!”

“This cowl is great for when it’s chilly and crisp outside or during those blustery winter days. I love feeling bundled up without having to wear a heavy coat. The linen shade and simple garter stitch suits any casual outfit. It’s the perfect accessory to wear all season long.”

“I like to go for neutral shades for cowls so that I can wear them with anything. The black shade is obviously great for this! I really like the length of the Garter Stitch cowl because I can double it up to make it extra cosy but also wear it like a scarf. I styled mine casually with a leather jacket and comfy jeans.

Did you hear about Chris the Sheep here in Australia. He was spotted in bushland in Canberra by someone out walking. They could not believe what they saw. The lady reported this sighting to our local RSPCA who went out to where Chris was spotted. Chris was found and tranquilised by a vet. He was taken back to the RSPCA where a local sheep shearer was asked to remove the fleece. To the amazement of staff at the RSPCA and many around the world the fleece weighed in at over 40 kilos, this is a Guiness World Record. Chris has now been adopted and will live out his days being properly looked after. It has been suggested that the fleece be put on show at a museum.
