World Wide Knit in Public Day! 13 June 2015
Bring your knitting and join us to celebrate World Wide Knit in Public Day! Wherever you are in the world, grab your needles and head to a WWKIP event to KNIT IN PUBLIC!
Across the globe on the 13th June 2015, there will be knitters brandishing their needles in public! World Wide Knit in Public Day stretches from Australia and New Zealand to Russia, all over the United States and Canada to Finland, and here in London, we’ll be celebrating with one of our favourite designers, Ros Badger, at the Idler Academy! Ros has written several fantastic books about knitting and crochet, and there’s nothing she doesn’t know about the magical fibre arts!
WWKIP began in 2005, and it started as a way to show the world that knitting is not only a fantastic hobby, but a rewarding community activity and way of sharing knowledge, kindness and cake! It revealed too, that “not only grannies knit”, but also reminds us that without grannies, we wouldn’t have the wealth of knitting knowledge we do now!
Meet new knitting friends!
Our celebration is in London, but wherever you are in the world, you can check to find your nearest event on the World Wide Knit in Public website under the “Find a KIP” section. If you can’t find a group to join that’s near you, check your local libraries or yarn stores – you are bound to find one somewhere! Lots of us are veteran knitters in public, but if you’re not, brave up and take your needles into the public eye!
Come and knit with us at The Idler Academy where we’ll be clicking our needles and talking yarn and patterns with Ros Badger – you’ll be in very good company, we’re all yarn-craft obsessed!
PS: Pssst you can bring your crochet too!
PPS: See you there!
